Palace manager Vieira sacked after winless run
Crystal Palace are 12 games unbeaten and have sacked manager Patrick Vieira.
Palace have not won a game in 2023, losing 1-0 to Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday, ending their third straight defeat.
They are 12th in the standings, just three points behind 18th-placed Bournemouth, who have a match ahead of them.
“It is with great regret that we have made this difficult decision.” Chairman Steve Parrish said.
“Ultimately, the results of the last few months have left us in a precarious league position and we felt that change was necessary if we were to have the best chance of maintaining our Premier League status. ”
The 46-year-old Frenchman, appointed before the start of the 2021-22 season, led the Eagles to 12th place and earned praise for his attacking style.
However, this season they have scored only 21 goals in 27 appearances. Only Wolves, Everton and bottom-placed Southampton have less.
Prior to their defeat at Brighton, Palace had gone three consecutive games without a shot.
In 2023, no Premier League team will have as few points as Palace, who scored 5 out of 33.
Three members of Vieira’s coaching staff – Ossian Roberts, Christian Wilson and Saeed Eigun – have also left the club and the process of appointing a new manager is underway.
The bottom nine clubs in the Premier League are just five points behind heading into the final month of the season.
Palace will travel to Vieira’s former club, Leaders’ Arsenal, on Sunday (14:00 GMT).
You’ll face eight relegation rivals in the final 10 games of the season.
“Patrick’s influence has been huge since joining us in the summer of 2021, and I hold him in high esteem from myself and all of his colleagues,” Parrish said.
“He led the team to the Wembley FA Cup semi-finals and played exciting football last season to finish a respectable 12th.
“Patrick has given his all to the club and we all thank him and his team for their service.”

Soccer news reporter Alex Howell
The dismissal of Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira should come as no surprise to anyone who has seen the Eagles struggle in 2023.
After Wednesday’s loss to Brighton, Vieira felt he was fighting for his job, but gave Arsenal a game as a final chance to show he could turn around a season that was becoming a relegation battle. It may have been taken.
Ultimately, it’s not happening.
Palace have not won since New Year’s Eve against Bournemouth.they Conceded with the final kick against Brentford On February 18th, they had a game that cost them a win and they had to deal with most of the top six.
Goalscoring was a big problem. Palace have not scored in their last four games and he has not scored twice in a game since December.
It is not yet clear who the club will bring in to replace Vieira, but they will have to score quickly for the team. The Eagles don’t allow much, but the threat of relegation grows with each passing week if they don’t score.
