Maggie Murdau’s friend breaks silence, says murdered wife was ‘devoted’ to murderer husband Alex
Maggie Murdau was ‘fun and witty’ and devoted to her husband Alex and sons, her friends said Thursday — speaking out for the first time after Alex is convicted of re-murder.
A 52-year-old mother of two was found dead on the family property in South Carolina on June 7, 2021. Alex was convicted on March 2 of the murder of her and her 22-year-old youngest son, Paul.
Another element of the sprawling case came into focus on Thursday when a GoFundMe to unearth another young man with family ties hit its goal.

Nineteen-year-old nursing student Stephen Smith died mysteriously in July 2015. The death was ruled a hit and run, but the coroner told state police investigators they disagreed with the autopsy results. Smith’s family believes he was murdered.
It was long believed that Alex and Maggie’s eldest son, Buster Murdoh, now 26, was somehow involved in Smith’s death. has heard rumors that may have been involved in Smith’s death. However, Buster was never brought in for questioning.
Smith’s family is now re-evaluating the case and hopes that “a new, unbiased examination of his body will lead to an accurate, fact-based determination of his cause of death.”
As of Thursday night, we’ve raised $40,000, far exceeding our goal of $15,000.
Maggie’s friends said she felt lost in the scandalous story.
Caroline Price said she was concerned that Maggie’s story was drowned out in the commotion surrounding the incident.

West said, “She had a witty personality. She loved things. She loved her family.”
She said Maggie is a quiet and strong person.
“She wasn’t the type to stand out in a crowd, but she was always there, backing everyone up,” she said.
Caroline Price said she “absolutely” felt Maggie’s personality was drowned out in the press.
The three have been friends since their days at the University of South Carolina.
Price was Murdo’s “sister” in the Kappa Delta sorority. Murdow and West lived together after graduation.
Both women were present at Murdoh’s wedding.
Price said Maggie Murdau was “not at all flashy” while Alex was “larger than life.”

Price said, “She loved her family, namely her boys. She was also very close with her parents and sister.
“She was a dutiful wife and supportive of Alex.”
“She was a human being, a mother, a sister, a friend, a daughter,” said West.
She is not a “murdered wife”. We don’t want her to be remembered like that.
Alex Murdau was sentenced to two life sentences on March 3.
On March 9, his attorneys filed a notice of appeal against the conviction.
