Gary Lineker He canceled an appearance on Match Of The Day Live because his voice “worsened.”

The 62-year-old sports commentator was removed from last weekend’s football highlights programme. Criticism of government policy Sports coverage on Twitter and the BBC was thrown into chaos as pundits, commentators and other presenters refused to act in solidarity.

BBC Sport tweeted this morning: ‘Due to illness we have changed the line-up for today’s live FA Cup BBC One coverage of Brighton v Grimsby.

“As viewers noticed yesterday, Gary Lineker has been struggling with his voice and unfortunately it has deteriorated overnight.

Lineker quickly confirmed the news and couldn’t help but laugh at his recent absence from the BBC and tweeted:

I went silent… I literally have a bad cold and I’m annoyingly not working at @OfficialBHAFC this afternoon.

Support for former Leicester City player flooded in following last weekend’s absence of Linker, including fellow broadcasters Ian Wright and Alan Shearerwhich also draws from the beloved program.

When asked by LaLiga Sports TV about his week ahead on Friday, the former England striker said: nothing is happening You could say it’s been an interesting week, but I’m still here.

“It was interesting and very satisfying. I received an amazing amount of support from my friends and colleagues.

“Overall disproportionate, but okay. It’s solved. I’m relieved. I’m going back to work tomorrow. The world is fine.”
