The Ukrainian football boss wanted to score a goal for his favorite team in Hungary on the heartbroken boy’s birthday, but hit it off after it fell through.
Sergei Kuznetsov, 40, said the team had not been informed in advance of their plans to allow the boy to score, putting players and management in an awkward predicament.
Enok Varga was allowed to score a goal on his birthday on MTK Budapest’s pitch before the match against DVTK Diosyor started. However, his dreams were shattered when DVTK’s goalkeeper Zombor his Senko smashed a shot.

In the face of mounting anger over the seemingly unsportsmanlike incident, Kuznetsov said in a statement released by the club (loosely translated into English):

Just before kick-off, Enok was given the chance to hit the ball towards the opposition goal, but goalkeeper Zombor Senko saved both shots.

Unlike his manager, Zombor said he regretted the incident and would “do everything to compensate Enoch.”
He said he would personally welcome the little boy at his next game and give him a personalized football memento.
“In the meantime, I hope he doesn’t give up on his dreams and fights for every ball like he does Monday night!”
